Uma Lou is a Bronx born Jazz Singer. This Congolese songstress is of Central African descent and embodies her powerful roots, eclectic spirit and expressive grace on and off stage. Effortlessly moving the hearts, bodies and souls of her listeners, Uma Lou has a voice that is hypnotic and captivating. Raised to African Beat, Motown, Jazz, R&B, Funk/Blues and Soul music. Uma has cultivated a multifaceted vocal range that resonates with the likes of Nina Simone’s bellowing undertones, Lauryn Hills Neo-Soul vibrations, Ella Fitzgerald’s impromptu skat and a colorful Bille Holiday-esque ambience. Uma Lou is a self taught guitarist who resides in the authenticity of writing her own music which unveils the consciousness of her profound truths and internal struggles, love and romance along with thought provoking impressions of the times we live in today. Earning her Bachelors Degree in Music Education at the University of Bridgeport, this Jazz Singer on the rise is musically ambitious, vocally affluent and an inspiring breath of fresh air.
