Jimbo Mathus (Squirrel Nut Zippers)

The late Memphis producer Jim Dickinson once called Jimbo Mathus “the singing voice of Huck Finn.” Outside the South, Mathus is likely known as the ringleader of the hyper-ragtime outfit Squirrel Nut Zippers. In his native Mississippi and throughout the South, however, Mathus is the prolific songwriter of born-in-the-bone Southern music, the torchbearer for Deep South mythology and culture. Think Delta highways, bowling-pin Budweisers and “innerplanetary honky-tonk” for the masses.

Jeffrey Gaines w/ Elle Sera

Friday November 29th

Doors at 7PM // Show at 8PM

$20 Ticket

Jeffrey Gaines has been heralded for his soul-searching lyrics and his powerful live performances.

With only his voice and a guitar for accompaniment, Jeffrey Gaines has earned a reputation as a captivating performer, entertaining audiences everywhere he goes.

Raised in Harrisburg, PA by parents more inclined to spin soul classics by Aretha and Otis than the New Wave and Brit Rock blasting from their son’s room, a teenaged Gaines began singing and playing guitar in several local garage bands. He soon decided to set out on his own and quickly landed a record deal, releasing Jeffrey Gaines, the first of his five studio releases. The album garnered four stars from The Philadelphia Inquirer, describing Gaines as “…an ethereal soul…insistent, impassioned, full of self-knowledge.” Somewhat Slightly Dazed, and Galore followed. Interview Magazine called Gaines’ music “soul-searching” and “refreshingly free of jargon, sentiment or cliché.”

Elle Sera

With soul and honesty, Elle Sera’s convergence of grit and grace separates her from so many singer-songwriters of today. With pure emotion and intention–all pouring out of a barely 5’ frame– it's a true wonder to experience the size of her voice faceted with texture, power and deliberate sensitivity.

BIO

Steve Rodgers spent his youth as the front man and leader of the band Mighty Purple as they toured the United States and Europe starting in the 1990s. Yet Steve’s passion for performing long predates this iconic hard-rocking, label-defying band that launched to notoriety and acclaim when its members were still technically too young to even be admitted in the bars they played.

In fact, Steve’s musical career began when he started singing in church at the age of 6 under the tutelage of his Pastor father and Sunday School teacher mom. His love of meaningful lyrics was formed as the then-rebellious 12-year-old who was sent away to boarding school wrote songs in his head during the day and taped them into his cassette recorder at night. (Yes, he still has the cassette with his first four songs on it.)

After decades spent making music, Steve returned to his other passion from his youth: creating music-based events that drew local communities together. He founded several now legendary and unfortunately lost community venues where talented local artists, national acts and community kids all found common ground around the music they loved.

Now, Steve’s eclectic career in the music industry has come full circle as he brings his indie, folk sound and soul back to the folks who love him – and an entirely new generation of those who are soon to be fans.  Steve is also a nationally recognized visual & miniatures artist

Paul T & Edward Oberon - V Recordings, UK

Paul T & Edward Oberon
Mainstays of the V Recordings family for a good number of years now. And no wonder. They're both producers and deejays, capable of moving a dancefloor with iron-fist aggression and velvet-glove subtlety. Garnering regular airplay from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, as well as support from the A-list of tastemaking D&B deejays and labels like Hospital and Shogun Audio, they're just as capable of delivering their emotive, molten flavours live on stage, as on record.
Tracks like "Tempt", "Surrender", "Sleepwalkers and "Stomp", show the the versatility, talent and ability of the duo, but also hint at the sheer momentum and quality they've come to be known for. As much as we hear of them, these two producers always manage to twist and contort between sub-genre pigeon-holes. If you're going to classify them as liquid, then that liquid must be lava, bringing heat and an edge of danger along with its fluid smoothness. And, trust, the dancefloor always feels it.
Following in the footsteps of 2016's "Take my Breath Away" (V Recordings & Hospital Records), and "Burning" (Shogun Audio), 2018 and 2019 saw the rise of the captivating "Moon in your Eyes", the third collaboration with V label mate Serum which soared straight to the top of the Drum and bass Charts at #1 on it's day of release. Making waves is the name of the game, and Paul and Edward are doing just that. Their mix of vintage jungle and modern, future-proofed engineering with a touch of soul has shown widespread appeal across the dance from. With highly anticipated releases in the pipeline, they're set to dominate 2019 and beyond with their unique multi-faceted production style. Having graced the stages of festivals and nights across Europe and USA, they don't show any signs of stopping.

The Burner Brothers (info incoming as you read this)

Jeff Elzwerth - M.I.A. dnb, M.A.D.E. productions, operation breakbeat

Elzwerth has been a staple of the northeast dnb scene for well over a decade, manipulating dance floors with an aggressive yet funky sound that has evolved over years of obsessive track hunting and mix studies. He's the second in command of the mighty M.A.D.E. productions, the crew responsible for the annual dnb gathering known as Junglist Massive as well the ongoing series of events known as EASY of which he functions as both resident and cohost. Elz has a mixed bag of tools at his disposal ranging from modern hard dnb to classic funky steppers and just about everything in between topped of with a bit of turntablism for good measure. CT's resident sound killer, lighters up.

I started off just asking to hang out at the end of the night and help breakdown, so I could be involved. Slowly, I learned about how events were put on and I grew a strong interest in hosting them but with no clue as to "how". I never thought I would be the one DJing them too!
"No, I'm not a DJ. I leave that to the professionals" - Val Dee '06-'07
I began learning to play vinyl in '04 with my first production company, Traumatic Productions. I learned on U.K. Hardcore/HHC, and slowly transitioned to the dark side, Drum and Bass in '06. I got my first DJ gig with Beatdown Productions Oct. 28, 2011 at Forces of Evil.
"Embodying everything we stand for as Ravers, Val Dee continues to prove his undying devotion to this culture and craft." - Mikey Parkay
After 20 yrs in this scene I've learned a lot, and met so many people involved. I've hosted my own events, music festivals, and participated in the arrangement of others', be it sound or just in helping set up & breakdown. I've always loved the idea of being a part of something bigger than myself and bringing people together through music & dance!

Derek Webb's Stokholm Syndrome 10 Year Anniversary Tour:
stockholm syndrome was the album that changed everything for me. it was the farthest i had ever ventured out from my singer/songwriter roots, the hardest i had ever pushed against typical content conventions, and the most creative i’d ever had to be in the marketing of an album (after it was censored by the record label). this september, stockholm syndrome turns 10 years old.

to commemorate, i’m doing a limited tour of listening rooms, taming these electronic & urban sounds into radically intimate, acoustic reinterpretations. get ready to hear stockholm syndrome like you’ve never heard it before.

Sandoval Band is an all original, Funk/Rock/Soul Band from Meriden, CT. Their mission is to blend sounds, cultures and generations to bring people together through up-tempo, soulful and funky rhythms in the style of Tower of Power, Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder and many more, that are used to deliver a positive message of hope, love and the power of unity.

Big Sexy and The Scrambled Eggs

---------------------------------

Big Sexy and the Scrambled Eggs have been lighting up Central New York stages and honing their unique Funkadelic Blues sound. Although they lurk around the jam band scene due to their ability to improvise, don't make the mistake of assuming their genre. Big Sexy and the Scrambled Eggs play music that transcends. Their songs have heartfelt lyrics and purposeful jams. They can take you places. They can take you to space or they can take you to the campfire. They can take you to the common man's soapbox or the drunken man's front stoop. Their grooves are smooth and their blues are deep rooted. One place Big Sexy and the Scrambled Eggs will surely take you is to the dance floor!

Jamie McLean is a triple threat. As a guitarist for New Orleans royalty Aaron Neville and Dirty Dozen Brass Band he's toured the globe playing fiery guitar everywhere from Madison Square Garden to Japan’s Fuji Rock. His blue eyed southern soul vocals ooze raw emotion and his top line songwriting chops tie everything together. With hundreds of original compositions to his name McLean creates a musical gumbo that incorporates New Orleans soul, Delta blues, middle America roots and New York City swagger

The Dharma Revival was created to create a community of music lovers, truth seekers, and movement junkies who love people and planet.

They are a band with 5 to 7 piece founded in Americana and fusing elements of Classical, Gypsy Jazz, Jam, Folk, and Funk. Our music and live show is danceable, approachable, and inclusive.

Dharma Revival supports the idea that every time we consume, we can also restore! That's why Dharma Revival utilizes a portion of every dollar we make through music and merchandise to restore our environment. We’ve already planted 1000’s of trees with our merchandise and are excited to fully launch our project and music in 2019 and beyond.

This is the music of Toubab Krewe, the vibrant Asheville, NC-based instrumental powerhouse that creates a sonic Pangaea that lustily swirls together rock, African traditions, jam sensibilities, international folk strains and more. While nearly impossible to put into any box, it takes only a few moments to realize in a very palpable way that one is face-to-face with a true original who recognizes no borders in a march towards a muscular, original, globally switched-on sound.

Jonathan Scales is one of the most innovative steel pannists on the planet, and is redefining and challenging traditional expectations of his signature instrument. In his hands, the sonic palette of an instrument often associated with cruise ships and tropical resorts is radically expanded to mimic the role of horns, piano, vibraphone or marimba due to his stunning, virtuosic technique. Scales’ mesmerizing compositions have captivated listeners and elevated him to the status of a true composer, forging new territory in the medium of instrumental music.
